Chapter one: The Walk
The night was quiet within the dark woods as there was an old, very old mansion. The moon seemingly shined upon it as for anyone who was to follow the moon, they would end up right at the mansion. The mansion itself had a warm glow from the inside due to the ones who lived there. But within the darkness of the woods, lingered one named Vincent. No one could tell if he was there or not due to how he dressed. He had pitch black hair along with the same color clothing, but he wore a gas mask that concealed his unnaturally pale skin color. He always blended in with the shadows of everything…
In the woods, there was somebody walking. “What a strange girl to be out alone in the forest…” She was walking further and further into the darkness, but she seemed… lonely and depressed… for she would keep stopping while looking at the ground. If one got close they could see the gloss that had covered her eyes. The water kept coming back no matter how much she tried to contain it. Vincent was out in the distance as he noticed the girl. He was swift with each movement he did as he followed her for a while. He had a very eerie presence that lingered off, letting her know that there was someone now following her. He waited for the right moment to appear in front of her.
Kei knew there was someone following her so she stopped. ‘…this presence…hm…I- no.’ she knew she was in trouble. She heard the sound of a snapping twig. Her heart was beating harder. “Run! He will take you…” The voices whispered in her head. Although spoken with hushed voices, they spoke with an urgency that had hidden meaning. She listened to the callings and started to run back the opposite direction…
Meanwhile, the strange man had noticed that she stopped and quietly he did so as he stood there on the side of her in the darkness of the forest shadows. “…Him…” He made a faint sound as he then went back to following her. He was very agile and athletic. Even as he passed through all the trees he was silent. Shortly after, he ran out of the trees to run behind her. He kept his head somewhat lowered so she didn’t look at his eyes as he slowed down to her pace. In an odd sense, he was having fun chasing her. He seemingly acted like her shadow as he was on top of hers running through the forest trees.
Kei was trying to run towards the beginning of the forest to where the town lays. It was a long way back to the town. The forest is considered very dangerous by the towns’ people. Nobody from the town dares venture there. Especially since the towns’ people believe the tales they all are told. Tales of strange happenings are creatures of night lurking in the trees. She knew she had to keep running but she felt something that she rather enjoyed from the forest. She was nothing like the people in that place…She was different from them. It is not surprising she’d venture off by herself to a place that is said to be condemned.
She kept passing by all foliage and broken branches that lay on the ground. ‘I have to get away from this man!’ She did not know if the presence that dragged on behind her was of human flesh…or a demon. Demons were something she was familiar with. She had always been a part of the world that borders the human villages. She was hoping she could make it out of this dark place without something happening to her. She just wanted this all to stop. She started to slow down because she could no long keep up with herself. She started to feel a sickening pit in her stomach. She had noticed something… It appeared the moon began to gather clouds and the forest seemed darker than before. She looked down from the moon and saw them. Someone… Not of flesh and blood. A creature… A shadow… One she has seen before. ‘Why did I come here? It would not have mattered… They always come… I just don’t want this to happen now!’
A shadowy figure then seemed to move closer and closer to Kei. Its face hung over far above her own head. Its hooded figure was large and black. It raised its arms out and his long limbs could be seen with his nails extending out of his fingers. There was nothing Kei could do for she was paralyzed by the creature. It had a grasp on her. Its long shadowy nails then grasped at her neck. Slowly he tried to suck the life out of her. She let a few tears fall from her face as she began to fall.
Vincent kept following but remained quiet. He was a human but at the same time, he was not. Nor was he mortal to be exact. After following her some more, he stopped with a halt as the sound of his shoes glided across the dirt. He had caught hold of her before she could hit the ground. He stood there for a minute looking at her and then around. He wasn’t alone of course, but he didn’t understand very well. He picked her up and started to take her back to the Mansion. Another creature was around. That he was sure of, as it felt somewhat on guard. He saw nothing around so it did not show itself for a certain reason.
The walk back was long for she ran as fast as her little legs could take her. It was a long and twisted forest. Her mind awakens for a moment but she is not able to do anything. She passes out again only to let out a tear fall down on her face before she sleeps. She feels as if she is floating, but she does not realize she is being taken away, far away from the town. In her sleep she keeps hearing voices. She feels an energy she has never felt before.
‘Who…Who is that…So strange…’ Suddenly, she feels as if she is being pulled away, and she sees the demon’s face all over again, and she clutches Vincent’s arm.
Upon Vincent taking her to the mansion, he laid her on the couch. He had only followed her for safety. He knew what lies in these woods… He gave off a calm, happy and relaxing energy. Even though his appearance looked like a normal human, his eyes were yellow and he had black hair that was nicely styled. He was the definition of a gentleman some girls said. She seemed to have been completely passed out. She looked so lovely…But that does not matter to evil creatures. All they care about is destruction and death…Her death…
Her dress was black and the satin seemed to be dirty due to her running. Her blue hair was all over her face from the wind but you could still see what she looked like…A doll. She looked like a doll…Her body then started to twitch a little for she started to her voices again. In her dream she was walking in the forest. Then she heard herself scream and saw blood scatter over the dead leaves and dirt. She was scared to death.
There now was another man with Vincent. The heels of his shoes echoed through the hall as he neared. He was dressed in a black suit and glasses. He walked towards the both of them and looked at Vincent. The man Kyo, the one who was seemingly dressed like a gentleman, lightly moved her hair out the way to see her face. “Hmph…a troubled one?” He said as if he was asking a question. He was right about to enter into her head until she sprung up. He then quickly moved his hand away taking a step back. Vincent remained near her side as he didn’t get startled. “….Hm….” Kyo narrowed his eyes looking at her. Tears of all sorts have been seen, but luckily enough he wasn’t going to be like a tsundere. Mainly he didn’t know about her, or at least not too much. “…Why so sad?” He said to her as he walked closer to her, he spoke with a calm and clear voice that would get through any type of negative waves. He put his arms gently around her as if soft wings had cupped her shoulders, making her feel at ease and not so troubled from the thoughts of demons. She looked off at the ground. Her body tense from the energy of someone else. She did not know what to do.
It seemed as if things were just pouring out of her and she was trying not to cry. No matter. It was too late. ‘No… I can’t do this in front of strangers! Please…’ her body started to jolt. Her fingers were shaking violently and her eyes just widened and she looked so scared yet so depressed. So much negative emotion…It could make anyone break down who looked at her. Kei’s body was shaking back and forth and her fingers…she tried to stop but she could not. She just wanted someone to understand all the things…
Kyo remained there with her but he was quiet. The feeling and sense remaining as it felt more powerful. Vincent tiled his head. “….You know the others are going to be here…” He said “…I know…this is good practice…” Kyo said as he let out a soft sigh. Just then the big strong doors of the mansion flung open. Another came in but was dragging someone else beside him by the collar of his jacket. His hair was silver like, his eyes were a more golden color but his pupils looked like that of a reptile. He was dressed in a very punk rock style as he looked straight at her. “….Another guest huh- well guess who went insane again….” He spoke as he dragged the male in. it looked like it could have been his twin but the two both had complicated energies.
Kei looked away for she did not want anyone else to see her face like this. Without thinking, she turned her head and forgot Kyo’s body was still there. She still has not spoken and she feels so scared and stupid for being seen like this. ‘And to make my day worse there is more people seeing me break down and I am being comforted by this stranger!.. Can it get any worse than this?’ She feared her last thought. She kept her head down and tried to move away from his chest but her way was blocked by his arms. ‘Wha-! why can’t I move?!’ She was hoping nobody was thinking bad things of her…’Although that is probably not going to happen when there is a stranger crying on your couch’ she thought. ‘I must leave here… I don’t know where here is but… I can’t stay here. But I- I cannot move!’ She tries to move away from him but fails.
“…Or-…it wasn’t his sanity….” Shadow said and stopped a few inches from the door as he laid Nox down. “You’re all lucky me and Avrid cleaned the blood off him!” Shadow said and sighed as he looked down at him. “Avrid should be home soon but- once you’re done with consoling her- He needs his mind at ease and fast…before he makes another dagger…” Shadow explained as black hands slithered the floor near Nox and locked together like straps. Kyo growled and then looked at her. He felt sorry for both of them. “….I can work with both…” Kyo said as he took off his glasses, though oddly enough he still had his arm around her making her not able to move still.
Their conversation was making Kei uneasy. She was not sure if she should try to hurt him and run away or…stay. Strangely she felt she should wait to see if he really is friendly…since she has nobody else in her life. She has no family or friends. There will be nobody to miss her so why should she not stay? She then thought of that notion as selfish and she didn’t want to burden them further. ‘Haven’t they done enough?’ She was not crying anymore though her face still looked so sad. She was about to say something but she had stopped herself. She couldn’t find her voice…she was still recovering. Instead she just looked up at the unknown man who wouldn’t let her go.
He folded his glasses and let them hang from his blazer’s pocket. He looked like a different person, a very smart one and some would say handsome. “…give me about 3 minutes…if he tries to escape or…something else- I’ll give you a 3 second warning so be fast.” Kyo said as he looked at Nox, the man who was lying on the floor lifeless and dull looking. Vincent and shadow nodded as shadow actually sat on top of Nox with a dull expression.
Kei feels out-of-place. She still doesn’t know what to do…She wanted to say something to this man…she just opens her mouth and looks at him but closes her jaw. She still cannot talk. ‘Why can’t I say anything?’
Kyo’s eyes began to glow a bit as it looked like he was focusing hard, in which he wasn’t, he had already entered into his friend’s mind as he sat very still with her. Vincent looked at her and well- at everyone. “….It feels strange…not knowing how to act…” He spoke with the same steady calm and exhausted voice. He was so used to working and being tested on, it was always rare for him to have breaks as long as these, though he liked them, but he also had to get use to them.
Kei’s feelings just made her want to run away because she was not used to having anyone be like this with her…She wasn’t sure what to do. She wanted to run away even though he felt so protective and calm. It felt nice to have someone care…She never really knew what it felt like…
Shadow and the one who looked like him laying on the floor stood near the entrance, as shadow looked at her, but also ignored her, he was intrigued and curious, but now wasn’t the time to let his guard down from such emotions. It was near the 3 minute mark as it lead on to 4, Kyo narrowed his eyes and soon something strong kicked him out of Nox’s mind as Kyo then let go of her feeling his head in pain as he peered his eyes. “Agh” It took him a few seconds to lose the sharp pulsing pain, but those few seconds felt long as he tried to tell the two “Quick! Pin him!!” It was too late as the man’s eyes shot open, his royal blue pupils shrunken. Shadow with in a blink of an eye quickly pinned him down more and covered the man’s mouth.
She saw this as an opportunity to run. He removed his arms from her and everyone was concerned with the man on the floor. She couldn’t go out the entrance so she decided to run up the stairs and just find some room up high and get away from them…It was all too much for her right then. She darted off the couch and up the stairs and she just kept running and went through corridors. It was all so confusing. She needed to find a room to be alone in. ‘Maybe then I could slip out later and run away.’ She thought. She went around trying to open doors seeing if they’d open. She just kept running. Hoping they’d be too occupied with the man to chase after her. She saw and orb of white light. So she ran after it and it led her to a room up top. She went inside and locked the door. She didn’t see anyone so she decided to sit down on the bed…She was all too tired and she started to pass out.
Kyo looked and watched her go up the stairs as so did Vincent, they were about to head up there, but….there was someone else up there in a room relaxing… “It’s a good thing she left-…” Shadow said as Nox squirms. His eyes were still shrunken as he had started to breath heavy and tears over flowed from him as he barely got himself free from the force of Shadow’s magic. Though Nox shortly broke out of the shackles around his hands, some of it was still around his Chest and ankles. He tried pushing Shadow out of the way shouting “LET ME GO!!!-Eh- this isn’t fair- this isn’t fair-!” He kept repeating as the 3 tried to calm him down.
Kei was still passed out on the bed. In her dream she is walking in the dark forest. Snap! “huh?” she turns around. “Aaah!” She sees blood. It was the same dream again. ‘Who’s blood is this?! Somebody help! I can’t wake up!’ The demon from the woods re appears. She saw the face of the demon. The top part of his face was covered with his hood, but an evil smirk could be seen on his lips. He then starts to growl which turns into hysterical laughter. “Go Away!” She screams. She tries to wake up but she can’t. Unknown forces can be heard screaming and shouting at her “Ah! Get out! Get out of my head! Somebody help me!” She just sees the dark demonic face and blood all over but can’t seem to wake up.
There was so much screaming and shouting, up stairs and down stairs as Maluspuer wondered what on earth was going on. He never heard so much all at once. “Can’t you guys keep it-” He said but paused once he saw her. “…Oh…” He said and then walked to her seeing that she was asleep. He lightly shook her saying “Hey! Wake up!” He keeps trying to wake her up but she’s stuck in this nightmare. She slowly starts to regain consciousness. Then all at once her eyes burst open and she flings her arms open to him and starts shaking. She still feels as if she’s stuck in the dream. She is trying not to cry because she is too scared. Until she feels the tears start to fall. Maluspuer’s eyes widen as crying could be heard, but it sounded muffled. “…You ok?” He asked her and smiled, though he kind of thought that now really wasn’t the best timing for her to be here when the thing that was happening. “…Hm….are you tired?” He questioned her.
She didn’t let go and was still clutching on to him. She still for some reason could not find words to say. She wanted to look at him but she was too scared. She wanted to answer him but she didn’t know how. She gathered up what strength she had to try and look at him. Hoping he would understand her expression because she didn’t know what else to do. She tried to nod yes.
He kept his charming smile as he tilted his head at her. “Don’t worry- I’m sure I can help.” He said and chuckled as strangely the loud crying sounds stopped…The door down stairs closed banged shut. Avrid was now home…
